Detuning modifies the mass and STIFF properties of components such as shafts, crankshafts or other rotating parts. Tuned Mass Dampers consist of an ADD mass that is tuned to a specific frequency to counteract vibrations. Detuners ensure that engine components do not resonate with OPERATE frequencies, which could lead to EXCESS vibrations and potential damage.
